3 things not to do when you wait – Part 2

The word of God says waiting makes us stronger and makes us soar high,

…but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like  eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint Isaiah 40:31

In this short post we are going to understand the right way to wait in order to get all the benefits of waiting. Those  who missed the previous article check out the below link,

3 things not to do when you wait – Part 1

Don’t pray out of impatience

A good question – are we praying out of patience or out of impatience? Some spill out messy words while convincing themselves that they are praying fervently. Many speak to God arrogantly without realizing that they are speaking to the Most High God. I’ve seen many questioning God, “Lord why are you so unjust? Why are the wicked flourishing? Lord can’t you see?”. This is just a sample. I know many have vented worse versions of words. Even I have asked these questions when I was a teenager. But we should know that even though these words are coming from a broken heart we need to be humble before the Lord. The below scripture will surely convict us,

“You have spoken arrogantly against me,” says the Lord.

“Yet you ask, ‘What have we said against you?’

“You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’ ” Malachi 3 : 13-15

Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. Ecclesiastes 5:2

Let’s be careful when we pray. Let’s always humble ourselves before God.

Don’t be like a chicken you are an eagle

Many are waiting for God but they look down on themselves and think that God can not do much with them and they wait for an angel to fall from heaven to remind them that they are eagles. What we think about us while we wait matters. Because our identity does NOT come from what we wait for, but upon WHOM we are waiting on.

…they shall mount up with wings like  eagles… Isaiah 40:31

Few others chicken-out and stop being good and doing good to others during their waiting period. They are scared of getting hurt so they stop being friendly and some are scared of losing worldly things so they stop being generous. They are scared of getting cheated and betrayed. The below verses will surely encourage,

Trust in the LORD and do good. Psalm 37:3

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Psalm 37:7

Amen!

Don’t waste your strength and time

Waiting period is not wasting period. It’s not a time to fool around or drool around. Laziness is not what God intended for those who wait. When you are waiting, work on whatever your hand finds with all your heart and all your strength.

Consider a mobile phone it allows you to call when it has 100% charge or even when it has only 15% charge. The phone might be worn out but it is still working. It did not shut down. But with us we stop working when we have 15% strength in our soul.

If you can’t leap, run! If you can’t run, walk!

If you can’t walk, limp! If you can’t limp, crawl!

But just keep moving!

Dear pal,

Surely the wait will come to an end. If you focus on the right things, the waiting period will run fast before you could realize. Instead of looking at the calendar and regretting about yester-years focus on what God is doing now and what God is enabling you to do now.

3 things not to do when you wait – Part 1

Waiting is something that drains our energy and our faith may become bleak. But the word of God says waiting makes us stronger and makes us soar high.

…but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like  eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

This is quite a familiar verse but today we are going to look at this differently.  The truth lies in waiting the right way! In fact if you know the truth you will be set free from a lot of bondage (John 8:32).

Don’t wait with wrong attitude!

Many say they are waiting patiently but they are actually grumbling, frustrated, jealous, angry or lamenting while waiting. Our bad attitude is not going to reduce the waiting time! Will it ? God’s clock runs on GMT – God’s Main Time. Why have a bad attitude as it’s not gonna change God’s time anyway? Put a smile on your face and wait, you’re waiting anyways! Rejoice and you’ll feel stronger.

Rejoicing when everything is fine is like expecting to shed few pounds by being a couch-potato. Only when we come out of our comfort zone and workout our muscles will get stronger. Same way only when we learn to rejoice while waiting we will get stronger.

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Psalm 28:7

Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Nehemiah : 8 – 10

Don’t be confused God wants you to be clear

Always remember confusion is Satan’s trick. God never intends to confuse you. There may be a suspense but never a hopeless end. There may be unanswered questions, but never wrong answers. Everything will come to light at the right time when we are fully capable of grasping it. So until then we should be obedient in what we already know.

The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29

Jesus replied, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority. Acts 1:7

Ask yourself,

– Are there unanswered questions questioning the wait?

– Are you waiting to have all the answers to confidently wait on the Lord?

– Do you think the answer to your questions will give you strength to wait ?

Psalmist says “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105,

God will shine His light one step at a time. He may not light your whole life map but definitely your feet and your path. He will not feed you more than you can chew.

Don’t let the world distract you

Waiting period is a wonderful time you can spend with the Lord and focus on Him and His works. If we look at the world and go after worldly pleasures or start comparing our life with others we may not hear God’s voice clearly. Bible says, Satan enters through the back door. But the true sheep will focus on God’s voice and stay away from the backdoor noises.

His sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice. John 10 : 4-5

Dear Pal,

Are you finding it hard to wait? Take heart! You have come this far! Your waiting will not go waste! Now that you know what needs to be corrected, be calm and wait with a smile!
